Honeymoon options for same-sex couples have multiplied in recent years, and now include something for absolutely everyone. With new countries opening their arms to the LGBT community every day, there is no longer a need to confine your dreams to beach resorts (unless that is your dream of course!).

Here are some newly emerging LGBT destinations you might want to put on your list for consideration:

1. New Zealand

Many same-sex couples are looking to exercise their love of adventure as they celebrate their love for each other. New Zealand has become world-renowned for adventure travel and outdoor recreation. With stunning scenery and world-class resorts, it’s the perfect destination for couples looking for a honeymoon walk on the wilder side.

2. Europe

History-loving couples are drawn to the old-world feel of Europe’s honeymoon destinations, like Barcelona and Rome. While same-sex marriage didn’t become legal in France until 2013, couples now enjoy recognition in one of the world’s most sought-after destinations. Paris is exquisite for honeymooners, offering world-class cuisine and intimate luxury hotels along with historic monuments, museums and attractions. Share a kiss on one of its famed bridges, or take a romantic sunset cruise down the Seine. Europe is full of gems to attract LGBT couples looking to celebrate in sophistication and style.

3. South Africa

While it’s rarely the first thought when couples start to plan a honeymoon, Cape Town offers romance and adventure like no other place in the world. Where else can you set out on an African safari, surf two world oceans, tour vineyards and discover urban nightlife worthy of a major metropolitan center? Same-sex marriage is legal and recognized in South Africa, and LGBT couples are warmly welcomed.

4. South America

While Mexico and the Caribbean will also be favorite spots for honeymoon travel, an increasing number of couples are turning to South America for the ultimate in beautiful scenery and iconic attractions in more unexpected locales. From free-spirited Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to glacier-filled Argentina, South America offers opportunities to see the ultimate in natural beauty and meet some of the regions most welcoming people.

5. New York

There is no need, of course, to go abroad to celebrate. New York City, one of the most romantic destinations in the world, is found within the borders of the US and may be a “new to you” destination.

The “city that never sleeps” features incredible dining, luxury accommodations, first-run theater, unbeatable nightlife and a colorful, diverse population accustomed to folks from all backgrounds. Take a stroll through Central Park or shop on Fifth Avenue. You can stay within the US and still enjoy the honeymoon of a lifetime.

The options for LGBT honeymoons become more varied by the day. Listen to your hearts when you choose the perfect spot to celebrate and seek out a background that perfectly represents you.
