Props & Posts

August is generally the month when I take some time "away" from the office and enjoy some down-time with family, while I prepare for a busy fall.

This year, though I'm glad to say that I've had the chance for a bit of R & R, but there's still so much going on!

Our team continues to take care of customers who are looking for the perfect gift for a friend or who are trying to find invitations or just the "right touch" for a reception.

But, we've also enjoyed the great news coming out of California as Judge Walker issued his decision ruling Proposition 8 to be unconstitutional. This is certainly a great victory for same sex couples, their families, and those who support embrace equality. We know, however, that we still have a long way to go. The decision has already been appealed and will most certainly wind its way to the Supreme Court.

So, as we have done since the beginning (1999, when my straight mom so ambitiously and thoughtfully founded our company to serve same sex couples who wish to marry), we will continue to make our way through these unchartered waters and help all of those couples who wish to tie the knot — legally or otherwise — in the coming months.

Meanwhile, we are also excited to note that we have been invited to participate as an "Ace" on the fabulous mainstream wedding blog, WeddingAces. We appreciate the props and we look forward to our posts, which will serve all couples and vendors — gay and straight alike. But first we've got a few "nuts & bolts" to sort through so we'll be in touch with more news on our official WeddingAce launch in a few weeks.

So, as I sign off and return to my holiday, I offer my gratitude to Ted Olsen and David Boies for their fabulous work in California and to the many couples who have been willing to stand up for their love for and commitment to one another.

Every little bit draws up closer to marriage equality!
