San Francisco Engagement: Ashley & Angela

Ashley and Angela had their engagement photos taken a few months before they got married in August 2013. “It was really awesome to get to do a hike, then go to the Castro and get drinks and have that be our engagement shoot. So chill and fun,” Ashley said. Her favorite part? “Running around the city like crazy people and changing outfits while driving (literally).”

The two women met at work in 2007. It was Ashley’s first day and unfortunately, it was practically Angela’s last. Angela was leaving San Francisco for LA, but they’d hit it off, and stayed in touch. After Angela eventually moved back, they started dating.

They wanted to have some engagement photos in the park, and they chose Land’s End, a trail they love. “We got out there in the middle of February and it was 70 and sunny,” Ashley marveled. “We don’t even get weather like that in the summer.” Their other photos are in the Castro, in places they tend to hang out a lot, including some of the stops on the engagement scavenger hunt that Angela planned for Ashley. The engagement had involved multiple stops, riddles, puzzles and co-conspiring friends, and eventually ended at the spot where they’d had their first date. “Ange was there with a ton of flowers and all of our friends that had helped along the way. Then she made me read this love letter she wrote out loud and asked me to marry her!” Ashley explained.

They got married at Hollins House in Santa Cruz. “My favorite memory from my wedding day is definitely having all of the people that we love in one place at the same time,” Ashley said. “It was amazing to be surrounded by the people that we care about the most and see everyone mesh together and have an amazing time.”
