South Carolina Destination Beach Engagement: Darby & Kimbra

Matthew Druin Co Photography
Darby and Kimbra both work in college athletics. They met at a beginning of the year meeting, but didn’t cross paths again until five months later at a softball clinic. They were reintroduced and they fell head over heels in love.

Darby says she knew it was love the first and second time she ever saw Kimbra dance. Kimbra knew the day she stood in the snow for three hours just to talk to her, in Chucks and a fleece when it was 20 degrees out.

One Sunday morning, right after their seasons were both almost over, they enjoyed their favorite time together – coffee time. This Sunday, though, a special cup of coffee was waiting that read, “Good morning beautiful. Will you marry me?”

Darby loves how much Kimbra cares about the people in her life. Oh, and that she’s a racecar driver! She laughs because Kimbra names her cars and treats them like family members (her current truck is named Bruce).

Kimbra loves that Darby makes her have fun and calms her type A personality.  She thinks it’s charming that Darby is always changing things around the house and can’t keep things the same.

The brides were married a couple of days after their engagement session. Edisto Island was the setting for both shoots. Even Tropical Storm Bonnie didn’t deter them from enjoying their perfect adventure-filled outdoor wedding!
