Virginia River Engagement: Paigh & Kristen

A Lovely Photo

In July 2013, about a month before their wedding, Paigh & Kristen took some time out from planning to enjoy a Virginia river-themed engagement photo session. For their location, they chose to be near a river in Richmond, not too far from their home. “It was fun climbing on the rocks and enjoying the sunrise over the water,” Kristen said. “Our photographer was so sweet, supportive and creative.”

A 5k race was taking place on the road right by the rocks where the brides-to-be were posing. “We got some positive vibes and hoots and hollers from runners,” Kristen said. “The morning was just gorgeous. Also, we went to the river a lot when we were dating and it was a spot that brought up many happy memories.”
Kristen had this to share about their experience being in front of the camera: “I have not been professionally photographed before so it was awkward at first because I wanted to do it ‘right.’ When I realized that wasn’t the point, and just to relax and enjoy being with Paigh, things got easier. Paigh has been photographed before for a book publication and some major newspaper articles. She was awarded a Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge for her valiance in Iraq. Paigh has done several interviews and had photo shoots due to her representation of women in combat. Before women were recognized for their contributions in combat, Paigh was undoubtedly in combat and has advocated for the recognition of women in the military.”
