British Columbia Urban Inn Wedding: Tamara & Michelle

KGOODPHOTO

April 2, 2016

Tamara and Michelle met while working towards their Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 2008. They developed an instant friendship. They feel as though their love story is unique and that it has truly been a journey. They have overcome many obstacles with the unconditional love of family and friends.

Tamara proposed while on vacation in British Columbia on June 24, 2013. She hired an event planner! The planner snuck into their cabin while they were out for dinner. When they arrived back at the cabin, there were rose petals everywhere, candles lit and a guitarist playing Michelle’s favorite songs. Michelle was overwhelmed and had no idea whatsoever what was going to happen.

After their engagement in Tofino, they spent a few nights in Victoria, B.C. While out walking one evening along the waterfront, they passed by an inn and instantly loved the venue. The location is breathtaking and they both wanted to get married by the water. They immediately went inside to inquire since they both fell in love with the venue.

The inn made their planning seamless and enjoyable. Their vendor referrals were extremely helpful. One of their favorite vendor-related wedding day details was the same day slide show of their photos provided by their photographer. The photos were shown as part of a greater slide show immediately before their first dance. It was very special for Tamara and Michelle.

Another special part of their day was the final blessing during the ceremony. Their own community reverend from Edmonton offered the blessing.

Michelle’s favorite memory of the wedding day was her first glance at Tamara and also the wedding speeches. Tamara’s favorite memory was her first glance at Michelle while she walked down the aisle and also the guests gathering for the meal and the love that was felt in the room.

Michelle and Tamara found that it was “helpful to find a venue and vendors that were LGBTQ-friendly. In addition, it’s important to ensure that you incorporate your own wants and wishes into your special day. Finally, try to stay in the moment on the actual day of your wedding, as time passes quickly on your special day!”
