Catskills Wedding: Adrian & Lee
These grooms are so in love with the Catskill mountains that they absolutely had to get married there (and then they had to start building their future house there!). Adrian and Lee were wed in the lawn of a private estate that sprawled for a gorgeous half-mile along New York’s Hudson River.
It was Aug. 25, 2012, and the beautiful sky on their wedding day made the venue even more beautiful. As guests arrived, they strolled on the grounds and took in the views before the ceremony began.
The grooms both wore bow ties, and each was escorted down the aisle by his parents. The ceremony was touching and lively, and as the grooms each spoke his vows, they were framed by white oak trees and an Iris-laced pond. Several family members and friends added a special touch by singing at the ceremony. When it was over, the guests couldn’t wait to get to the grooms to congratulate them as they walked down the aisle.
Everybody enjoyed a photo session to commemorate their Catskills wedding before the reception. Guests roamed about on their own, snapping shots with their cell phones. The grooms headed to the river with their photographers, but they were so absorbed in the breathtaking views that they soon forgot they were being photographed, which made for some perfect candid shots.
The grooms were intentional about sourcing most of their wedding very locally, from the Catskills wine down to the rocks that weighed down the place cards. Of course, each table was named after a local Catskill town. In their decor, they went for a crisp and classic aesthetic that combined chic and rustic, including crystal glasses, burlap table runners, and Birch Tree candles. The afternoon was relaxed and casual. As children swung from the great oak trees, adults danced and mingled with the newlyweds.
