Chelsea Piers Wedding: Aldrin & Mike
Aldrin and Mike met 16 years before their Chelsea Piers wedding at The Lighthouse on February 16, 2013.
They met in college at Oakland University, and once they started dating they became inseparable. When they moved to New York City in 2000, they thought it could be their home for the rest of their lives. “We made a decision to wait for marriage to become legal in New York State before we had a ceremony,” Mike said. “We knew we wanted to be together forever, but we wanted the legal rights that come with our state recognizing our marriage.”
The two grooms put careful thought and attention into every detail of their wedding. They wanted a modern, simple look, and they worked shades of blue into every important element, from their stationery to their bespoke suits. Their menu, which included a full roasted pig, combined both cultural backgrounds: Aldrin’s Filipino roots and Mike’s Latin roots. As a palate cleanser, guests were served lime granita in a wedge of lime.
