Chic and Rustic Tavern Wedding: Mike & Dan

June 14, 2014

Mike and Dan met, as many couples do today, online. Both love traveling, especially to New York City. The first time they told one another they loved each other, they were in the middle of Times Square.

Years later, they took a trip back to NYC. Michael flew in Dan’s best friend, and his own best friend for the weekend as a surprise. As they walked through Times Square, in the exact spot where they had said “I love you,” Michael got down on one knee and proposed. After Dan said yes, their friends ran over and they all celebrated.

Mike and Dan’s venue, the Dark Horse Distillery, was different from other wedding sites. Rustic, yet modern, it had multiple rooms that allowed them to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in different rooms without the need to “flip” the venue after the ceremony.

Michael surprised his mother and family by using his father’s wedding band as his band. His father passed away during Michael’s childhood, so the detail was particularly special to the couple and family.

The newlyweds’ advice to other engaged couples is to listen to no one but yourselves, and to do what you want to do. There will always be some hiccups, but the reality is that no one but you will know. Don’t stress!
