Chicago Cruise Wedding: Lili & Michelle

It was a picture-perfect day for Lili and Michelle’s Sept. 10, 2011 cruise wedding in Chicago. Both decked out in all white – Lili in a gorgeous, form-fitting gown, and Michelle in a stylish suit – the brides welcomed their guests onto a boat for their very personalized ceremony.

As they exchanged their handwritten vows, and engaged in a Native American vase ritual – the two sprouts representing each member of the couple entering into a deep, spiritual connection – passers-by cheered and waved from the State Street bridge. After sundown, they were treated to Chicago’s famous fireworks.

The brides first met at the gym, where Michelle was Lili’s trainer. Lili was very interested, but could tell that Michelle was keeping a professional distance. After nearly a year, Lili worked up the nerve and sent a very direct text message: “I want to be more than friends.”

Michelle let down her guard, and they began dating. They were clearly on the same page, because both had secretly begun ring shopping. Michelle was the first to propose, and Lili reciprocated, a week later.
