Colorado Lodge: Mallorie & Candy
Candy and Mallory celebrated their marriage on Sept. 9, 2011 at The Lodge at Sunspot, in Colorado. “We knew we wanted a mountain venue with lodging because we live in Denver but neither of our families live in Colorado,” Mallorie said. “So, this was sort of a destination wedding even though it was in our home state. We chose Sunspot because it was so gorgeous and the idea of sending our sea level dwelling relatives up a ski lift was too great to pass up.”
The brides met in Denver in 2007 through a mutual friend. They were friends for a while, and began dating in 2008. As they planned their wedding, Candy’s priority was having a great photographer. She really wanted high-quality pictures that their kids and their kids would be able to enjoy for many years.
The brides hadn’t planned a father-daughter dance, but as soon as the brides’ first dance finished, both of their dads approached the dance floor, separated them and started impromptu father-daughter dances. “Still makes me tear up three years later,” Mallorie said. Mallorie offers this advice to newly engaged couples: Hire a day-of wedding coordinator if you aren’t using a full planning service. Take your couples pictures before the ceremony. That quiet hour on the mountain together with our photographer was so important, we had a moment to relax and privately enjoy each other in the midst of the chaotic day. Our pictures turned out great too!
