Colorado Manor Wedding: Kim & Cathy

Beth Photography LLC

March 7, 2015

Kim and Cathy met online, and Cathy proposed on their one-year anniversary. Kim had no clue that Cathy had such a plan. Her daughter and grandchildren pretended to “visit” and were there for the proposal. Cathy got down on one knee during a lunch at the restaurant where they went on their first date. Kim’s heart burst open wide. She remembers, “From the moment we first met in person, we both knew this was it. It took me 45 years to have my best first date EVER! She (Cathy) was planning our anniversary before our first date was ever over with.”

During their search for a venue, Cathy and Kim called several places, and only two returned their calls. They chose Lionscrest Manor for its beauty and amazing staff.

The planning sometimes felt overwhelming, but the staff at Lionscrest, and the vendors they recommended, were extremely helpful.

The brides wanted their guests to be part of their ceremony, so they offered seating only for their parents. Guests stood around Cathy and Kim on a raised area that surrounded the dance floor and staircase. It felt so intimate. Kim walked down the staircase to Mary Lambert’s “She Keeps Me Warm”. Guests commented that they truly made it their day by forgoing what some consider the traditional “Here Comes the Bride” and making it a moment to remember by adding their own special twist.

Cathy and Kim’s favorite memory of the day was the love that filled the venue, and seeing all of their friends there to celebrate their day with them.

The newlyweds shared the following advice for other couples planning weddings: “Make it your own. It is YOUR day and no one else’s.  Laugh and then laugh some more. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want and spend the extra money for an amazing photographer to capture those moments that pass by so quickly.”
