Colorado Wedding: Cheryl & Rhonda

23rd Studios Weddings 10

Cheryl and Rhonda got married in their backyard in Lafayette, Colorado on June 1, 2013, with 150 loved ones showering them with love and support.

The brides met in 1998 when Rhonda was remodeling her home, and Cheryl was brought in to advise her on her lighting choices. They then got engaged in 2004 when they were celebrating Cheryl’s 40th birthday skinny dipping off the isle of Crete.

The most important “vendors” at their Colorado wedding were actually close friends, from the officiant, to the Taco Truck owner, to the baker. Cheryl’s favorite memory? “Rayme driving her pink Comidas food truck up toward the end of the ceremony and driving thru the back yard to set up!”

As for the cake, they gave their longtime friend Jennifer Bush of Lucky’s Bakehouse & Creamery total carte blanche. “We’ve known her throughout our relationship and she sincerely knows us,” Cheryl explained. The result was stunning. The wedding was a multi-generational affair. When Rhonda toasted the parents in the group, thanking them for allowing the brides to “show your children a different, more kind and loving world,” happy tears were flowing all around.

Cheryl offers this advice to newly engaged couples: Keep it yours and don’t let others impede on what you want. Stay positive through the punch list of guests, food, flowers, colors, etc.; remember, this is YOUR day. Use your dearest friends to lean on as they truly want to help but won’t ask.
