Dallas Golf Club Wedding: Christine & Ashley
January 3, 2015
It’s hard enough planning a wedding. Try planning one when both brides are active military. Christine and Ashley faced this challenge together, even through Ashley’s deployment to Germany.
They met through mutual friends while stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. Eventually, Ashley nervously asked Christine to be her girlfriend. The two were drawn to each other and it was clear they were meant to be.
Ashley proposed by making a candle lit filet mignon dinner and creating a path of rose petals from the door to the center of the room with Scrabble tiles spelling out “Christine, will you marry me?” It was particularly difficult to pull off as Ashley and Christine lived in the barracks and shared a room and common area. A fortunately timed nap and a little distraction from a friend allowed Ashley to execute the details flawlessly. Of course, Christine said “yes!”
The wedding was intimate and included only the couple’s closest friends and family. The atmosphere was relaxed, though, and everyone got along so well that they all laughed and smiled the whole day. Ashley cried the before the wedding – even during the first look!
One favorite memory was a spontaneous soul train line on the dance floor during the celebration. It was hilarious to see family and friends, young and old, really dancing and having fun together on the dance floor.
The wedding brought a bit of each bride’s background into the theme. It was dressy casual and all the girls in the party wore cowboy boots and knee-length dresses, while all of the boys wore Tom’s, suspenders, and bow ties. Ashley is from Texas and grew up in the country around horses and trail rides, while Christine grew up in the “preppy suburbs” They brought their styles together and ended up with an atmosphere that suited them perfectly.
Christine and Ashley could not have imagined a better wedding day. It was perfect from start to finish.
