Florida Country Club: Laura & Janis
If you’re wondering how to create an aisle using over 2,000 roses, you’ve hit jackpot with this jaw-droppingly beautiful Real Wedding. On Sept. 15, 2012, Laura & Janis got hitched in Fort Myers, Florida, at the Gateway Golf & Country Club.
The Gateway is not only one of the top golf courses in Florida, but it also offers beautiful scenery and backdrops for a tasteful outdoor wedding.
The brides had been together for about 8 years before they wed, but, as their photographer put it, they still have a ‘madly in love’ glow about them. Their wedding day began at La Playa, a Naples beach hotel where each bride got ready in her own suite and then came together for a “first look” photo session. The unexpected rain showers kept them off the beach, but they were just as radiant indoors.
For four days, a good friend of the couple, who is an Atlanta-based florist, worked hard to transform their venue into a floral extravaganza (scroll carefully through these photos for proof and inspiration!). Gorgeous arrangements were scattered throughout the entire country club, and 2,000 – yes, 2,000 – roses were used to create a floral carpet in the aisle.
The brides’ families and friends were a big part of the day. For starters, Janis’ son walked the brides together down the aisle to the sound of a live string quartet. A good friend of theirs officiated the ceremony, timed perfectly to include a breathtaking sunset over the golf course. And to top it all off with Florida magic, a resident alligator floated in the nearby pond, watching over the brides. The reception was equally well planned, including the brides’ specialty cocktail (“Love Potion Number 9”) and a S’Mores bar. To end the night, guests created a sparkler send off, as the brides took off on a Caribbean honeymoon cruise together with 10 of their closest friends and family.
