Intimate Maui Wedding: Ashley & Luisa

May 28, 2016

Ashley and Luisa met on a blind date. Two mutual friends agreed that they were a good match, so they set them up, and the pairing was a success!

A few years later, the two were married at an oceanfront Maui wedding.

Ashley first proposed to Luisa in New York. Luisa had just graduated with her Associates degree and Ashley wanted to take her to New York to celebrate. Ashley had a book specially made for Luisa with fun facts, iconic spots and romantic places throughout Manhattan.

A few days into their trip, Ashley took Luisa to Central Park because she wanted to watch the sunset. She pulled out the book and handed Luisa a hidden mini-envelope that was tucked in the very back of the book. She revealed that she wanted Luisa to read something about this particular iconic spot. Luisa opened the envelope, and to her surprise it read, “Luisa, will you marry me?” Of course, she said yes! Luisa then proposed to Ashley in Sedona, Arizona.

The brides chose their venue because they both felt it offered exactly what they had in mind. They wanted beauty, serenity and tranquility, and they loved the secluded location with a beautiful view of the ocean.

In the beginning, planning was fun and exciting. Over the two-year engagement, however, the stress of planning a destination wedding wore on both of them, and they became nervous and overwhelmed. It was all worth it, though, as the actual day turned out to be so much more than they imagined.

Luisa’s favorite memory of the wedding day was the first look. Ashley was standing in the back, off to the side, because she was first to arrive. Luisa walked right up to her and placed herself beside Ashley before they fully looked at one another. She was completely overwhelmed with happiness and excitement.

Luisa and Ashley recommend that other engaged couples try not to stress over the small stuff, because not everything is going to be perfect. Ashley told Luisa throughout the entire planning process that they could do “what ever made them happy.” Sometimes they broke with tradition, made a twist to tradition, or created a new one. Luisa adds, “You’ll have no regrets if you do what makes you both happy.”
