Intimate Rainy Day North Carolina Wedding: Alyssa & Megan

Cynthia Rose Photography

June 6, 2016

Megan and Alyssa went to rival high schools and lived in the same area for years, but didn’t meet until they attended Peace College in Raleigh, NC. In December of 2009, Alyssa stepped out of her comfort zone and sent Megan a message online. She had seen her around campus and was too shy to say anything directly. Unfortunately, Megan saw that Alyssa had attended her rival high school and decided to ignore the message and friend request.

Alyssa was persistent. She kept messaging Megan until she responded. Once Megan saw that Alyssa was that beautiful nameless girl she had seen walking around campus, she drove out to see her the very next day.

Megan proposed at Fort Macon in North Carolina’s Atlantic Beach on November 26. The couple usually had their pictures taken together every year at the beach, but this time Megan hired a professional photographer who told her that when she was ready, Megan should give the “thumbs up.” They were standing in the dunes, surrounded by baby cacti at their feet, and she got down on one knee. All she was able to say was “You know I love you, right?” Alyssa thought this is so sweet and cute.

Alyssa and Megan chose their venue because it has the most beautiful sunsets and was the perfect fit for what they wanted. Their planning was a bit difficult because they had to do it all from South Korea. Their moms stayed on top of everything for them and kept everyone on track. They also credit the “best group of vendors” with helping make their day amazing. Everything came together perfectly.

One thing that was unique about their wedding was the eclectic group of guests who came to help celebrate their big day. Well, that and their corn hole board guest book!

If they had to give advice, Alyssa said, it would be “to not settle for anything less than what you both want on your day. Don’t overwhelm yourself with details or with family that doesn’t want to be part of your day. They are the ones missing out.”
