Lanikai Beach Hawaii Wedding: Daniel & Billy

August 11, 2014

Daniel and Billy met in Raleigh, North Carolina and have been inseparable since day one. It was Billy who proposed to Daniel. He picked the ring and held on to it for several months while he tried to figure out where, when, and how to pop the question. It was just a normal afternoon when Daniel did something so sweet that Billy knew it was the right time.

Billy described the big moment: “So, when he went upstairs to take a shower. I got a piece of paper and wrote the words, I put the note and the ring on a towel and while he was in the shower I knelt “for what seemed like 300 minutes” until he turned off the shower, he opened the shower curtain and there I was, down on one knee. His immediate response was, “what are you doing silly?” I motioned him to take the towel and when he did he saw the note and the ring and he immediately jumped out of the shower and gave me a huge hug and told me “yes baby” of course. Best day ever!”

They decided to get married in Hawaii as soon as they stepped foot on the island of Oahu. Daniel’s father lives on the island, and during their first trip together the couple stumbled upon Lanikai Beach. They knew they were drawn to the location for a reason, and returned on August 11, 2014 to exchange their vows.

The grooms had a stress-free, amazing ceremony in the spot they chose together. They feel lucky to share that moment forever.

Daniel and Billy wanted a small, stress-free wedding. Their only other requirement for the perfect day, other than their beach at Lanikai, was to have baby blue and white linen. Both are easy to please and were thrilled to be getting married.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests had dinner in Kualoa. They then returned to their resort, walked the lagoons for an hour, then laid on beach recliners while they watched shooting starts in the sky – the perfect end to the perfect wedding day.

Billy suggests that couples not get too stressed when planning their weddings. “Slow down and take it all in!”
