Pennsylvania Vineyard Wedding: Valerie & Amy
May 17, 2014
Amy and Valerie met at work. Valerie introduced herself. She knew Amy was a catch but was in a relationship at the time, so she tried to fix her up with a friend. Luckily, the fix-up didn’t take, and Valerie and Amy’s destinies collided.
For Mother’s Day, Grayson, the couple’s son, and Valerie made Amy a book complete with his coloring that said she deserved to get the best Mother’s Day gift ever. It also said jewelry or a bulldog just weren’t it! The final page was the gift of a family and Valerie was on one knee.
Valerie’s Favorite Memory of the Wedding Day
Seeing Amy for the first time for their first look session was magical, but seeing her emerge during the reception in her red suit was extraordinarily happy and fun. Valerie says that Amy was glowing.
Advice for Other Gay and Lesbian Couples
Valerie and Amy shared their advice for other couples: “Plan YOUR wedding. The beauty of being a ‘non-traditional’ couple is anything goes. It’s your day so make it about the two of you. You will appreciate the hours of planning, empty wallets and inevitable ‘wedding drama’ if it’s meaningful to you and your spouse. No one else matters.”
