Rustic Turquoise and White Florida Wedding: Mindy & Liz
November 13, 2015
Liz and Mindy met when both were asked to play in a random spring soccer game against Liz’s alma mater, Stetson University. They met again, on another soccer field, two years later and the rest is history.
Liz proposed to Mindy at home after work one evening. Mindy knew they had talked about getting married, but she had no idea she was going to propose so soon.
The brides chose their venue because it was close to home and close to their families. When they booked it, it was under construction, but when they walked into the reception area during their tour, they knew it was the place they wanted to get married; they both looked at each other and knew no place would compare.
Mindy and Liz had a year and a half to plan their wedding which was the perfect amount of time for them and made the process less stressful.
They made all of their decisions together and made many DIY projects as well. They crafted personalized mason jars for seating assignments, and reconfigured a palette, stained it and lettered it for signage. Some of their favorite details were their “Mint to Be” favors, frames for their table numbers, and family tree with pictures to highlight their siblings, parents, and grandparents. The sash that Liz wore was made by her sister-in-law and the guest book was a Shutterfly album of their own photos.
Mindy wore her grandmother’s ring as her something old. Liz wore a pin with the letter “H” on her sash and held a family heirloom handkerchief around her flowers.
Pretty much the entire wedding party was family: Mindy’s Matron of Honor was her twin sister, Liz’s Man of Honor was her brother and her bridesmaid was her sister-in-law. The junior bridesmaids and flower girls were Liz’s nieces and the ring bearer was her nephew. The guitarist was a college friend of Mindy’s and the officiant was a good friend of the couple ordained specifically for their wedding.
