Simple Intimate Long Beach Wedding: Robert & Shawn
The couple chose the historic Queen Mary as their wedding venue. The waterfront appealed to the grooms, and it worked out practically for Robert as his mother still lives in Los Angeles. The luxury vessel first sailed in 1936, and has become part of the local culture in Long Beach, California. It boasts banquet space as well as hotel rooms, perfect for an intimate wedding.
Robert and Shawn gave themselves plenty of time to plan, yet still found weddings to be uniquely complex. There were so many details to think about, that even given lots of time, it was a challenge to catch everything.
Robert relied on his best friend, Nathalie, who was working on her PhD to help with details like the save-the-date cards and the invitations, along with vendor selection. The timing of the wedding was chosen to ensure that she could attend. Unfortunately, two weeks to date before the wedding, her cancer won. Robert and Shawn cherish the details she helped with and through them felt her presence at the wedding.
One of their favorite memories of the day was the walk down the aisle, and seeing all of their planning come to life. The grooms highly recommend planning in advance and relying on the many checklists that are available to guide you through the process. Also, seek and accept word-of-mouth referrals to find the best professionals to help with your day.
