South Carolina Aquarium Wedding: Joey & Michael
August 30, 2014
Joey and Michael met in a bar in Washington, DC. Michael was a Midshipman at the Naval Academy in Annapolis and Joey was studying at George Mason University.
The two started talking at the bar and exchanged information, but it was right before Christmas, so they didn’t have much hope of seeing each other until the start of the new year. By coincidence, both planned to be in Chicago for New Year’s Eve. They shared a New Year’s kiss, and the rest is history.
For their wedding at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, Michael wore his dress whites, while Joey chose a J.Crew suit. They chose classic black suits for male wedding party members, and long gray dresses for the girls.
Michael’s father officiated the ceremony, which took place on a second-story balcony overlooking the water. After the ceremony, the newlyweds posed for photographs alone in front of the aquarium.
Joey and Michael were introduced for the first time as husband and husband and descended into the reception on an escalator. Guests dined among the large aquarium tanks, and gazed out two story windows at views of the river. It was a beautiful day celebrating two beautiful people and their story of love.
