Sweet Fall Wedding with a Flash Mob: Jennifer & Allegra
October 3, 2015
Allegra and Jen met on Ok Cupid! Jen was visiting Seattle and cruising the site for cute Seattle ladies. They didn’t end up going on a date on that trip, but started writing back and forth, and Allegra couldn’t resist Jen’s charming profile.
Jen proposed to Allegra on Valentine’s Day. They were on a date: dinner and a Band of Horse acoustic show at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Allegra had never been, so they walked around the dome after the show with a few hundred other concert-goers. Jen got down on one knee as they got to the center of the dome and asked Allegra to marry her.
The brides wanted a fall wedding outdoors as October is typically a warm month in the East Bay. They also wanted their guests to visit Oakland, a city they both really love and where their relationship grew the most. Piedmont had everything they wanted for both the ceremony and the reception.
Once Jennifer and Allegra determined a budget, planning went pretty smoothly. They had a lot of support from friends. Their caterer had food truck connections, and one of the bridesmaids is a fashion designer and created Allegra’s dress. The couple made their own sandwich board signs, and a good friend made them light up marquee letters to display.
For both Jennifer and Allegra, there was a moment of looking around at their guests thinking all of their favorite people were there in one place just for them. They both felt very loved by friends and family.
The happy newlyweds offer the following advice to other engaged couples: “Don’t settle! If you want it at your wedding, make it happen. Also- if you absolutely do not want Vanilla Ice to be played by the DJ, make a list of no-play songs.”
