Texas Indoor Garden-side Wedding: Kelli & Nichole
April 12, 2015
Kelli and Nichole met at work. Kelli pursued Nichole, who turned her down more than once, but Kelli would not give up. Nichole proposed on March 23, 2014, during a vacation to Los Angeles. She got down on one knee at sunset on Venice Beach. Kelli was so surprised that she never actually said yes – but she did take the ring!
The brides searched for the perfect venue and fell in love with Ashton Gardens for its outdoor feel with indoor comfort. Kelli took responsibility for most of the planning as she is very detailed and organized. The experience was, according to the couple, really smooth.
Kelli always wanted to ride in a horse drawn carriage, but had never done so. Nichole surprised her with a beautiful carriage at the end of the reception. The ride was very special to both brides.
Kelli’s favorite memory of the wedding day was seeing Nichole as she walked into the ceremony. Nichole’s was seeing Kelli’s reaction to the horse and carriage. Her smile was priceless.
For other same-sex couples, Kelli and Nichole warn that you may have to outright ask vendors whether or not they support same-sex marriage, and make sure that they are aware that two men, or two women are getting married. To all couples, they advise, “enjoy every little moment, and on the day of your wedding, take a step back and take it all in, because the day goes by so fast.”
