Texas Summer Elopement: Rick & Jody
June 23, 2016
Rick and Jody met on a random night out in a lounge in their home city, San Antonio. Jody said he had seen Rick on a dating site and when he finally saw him in person, got the courage to say hello. The rest is history.
After being married in New York state, they planned a quick elopement in their home state of Texas.
Jody proposed after the couple was together for less than a year. Rick had a birthday celebration, and Jody surprised him and took him to the courtyard with a handful of friends before all of the rest of the guests arrived. He asked Rick, who was taken completely by surprise, to marry him. It was perfect and a moment Rick will never forget.
Rick and Jody chose their venue because it was quiet, sweet and intimate. They wanted a location that felt exclusive.
Their planning experience was stress-free. They kept it simple and made sure to focus on what was important to the both of them and no one else. They were blessed that everything fell into place and took less than two weeks to plan.
The grooms spent the night before the wedding in a cabin on-site and they made the best night out of it. They had wine and cake, and played a guitar, singing and acting silly with one another.
One of their favorite wedding day moments was ending their celebration by jumping into the pool with their wedding attire on and trying to get the perfect action shot. The jump into the pool felt symbolic of jumping into their new life and journey together.
Rick wrote, “Our advice for other couples is to remember that simplicity really is the key. Don’t worry too much about pleasing others. Just know and remember this is your special day and it only comes once so enjoy it. Take the three things that mean the most to you both and compromise. Ours was our pictures…an intimate venue…and a minister we felt comfortable with, whose words would make our ceremony ever so special!”
