I loved my wedding at the Hyatt! We had a few hiccups along the way such as the wedding coordinator changed (not a big deal), some guests had problems reserving rooms, and they were renovating during my wedding so the water was turned off Monday - Friday from 9am-5pm for all my out of town guests. We made everything work out without any big problems. All of my emails were answered (some took a little longer than planned, but nothing horrible) and all the wedding plans went smoothly! They even set up my centerpieces as I wanted with no added charge. The food was amazing and the staff were helpful and friendly! I had a wonderful time and my dream wedding came true!

I had my wedding at Hyatt hotel. During the ceremony, the staff was great BUT catering and sales absolutely sucks. They do not return your calls. I was so stressed out on my wedding day because both my bridal and groom suite were NOT ready to be checked in, imagine it's your wedding day and your photographer and everybody else is there but your room is not ready. It happened twice!!! I don't recommend them at all.

Terrible. We had our wedding room block here for our guests. Between checking out the hotel, signing the contract, and the wedding day- we've dealt with 6 different people. We were shuffled around from person to person and when I would email with follow-up questions, I usually got a kick back email stating that person no longer worked there which is how we got to working with so many different people.. 2 days before the wedding every single person that I had dealt with previously either no longer worked there or was out of the office on medical or vacation leave. No person ever emailed me to let me know of a new contact person. We had plans set with the person that deals with the bar and the kitchen to have them close later for our large group after the wedding, only to be told at 12:30 a.m. while our guests are at the bar that they will be closing early (their manager didn't tell them...even though I had spoken with him the week prior to confirm.... in fact the bartenders specificlly told me their manager said they could close early. And they didn't keep the kitchen open at all.) We had a wedding guest pay for our room for two nights as a surprise gift and we were supposed to be told upon check-in that our room had been paid for... instead we were asked for a credit card and we were not told. We didn't find out until the guest approached us at the wedding. We had also booked the presidential suite which was the biggest mistake. While the room was nice and large.... trying to fall asleep while listening to the elevator go up and down every 2 minutes all night long for two nights in a row (apparently elevator wall and bedroom wall the bed is on, share a wall). My husband and I got absolutely no sleep the night before our wedding and the night off. I will never stay at this hotel again.

We worked with Lucy Warner for our rehearsal dinner and she did a phenomenal job. She was very responsive and professional. We told her we wanted a BBQ style dinner she sent us some menu recommendations but let us make some changes so we could have exactly what we were looking for. The food was great and Lucy was there that night to ensure everything went smoothly, which it did thanks to her!

We had an excellent wedding reception at the Hyatt Fairfax. They were able to accommodate all of our needs and special requests. The ballroom looked exactly like we wanted it. Lucy, the catering manager, did a great job working with us up until the big day making sure all plans were in place. Andrew, the banquet manager was great the day of the event making sure we had everything we needed and everyone was being taken care of to the highest standard of service. We got lots of compliments on the food as well. The reception packages were all inclusive and a great price in comparison to similar venues. The only issues any of my guests had were on the hotel end of things. There were a couple issues with reservations and the housekeeping of several rooms.

My experience with the Hyatt was not always a great one. We were shuffled around between three different event coordinators from the time we booked the venue until the actual event. To be honest, the first two people we worked with were awful and made me regret my choice to have my wedding reception at the Hyatt. Once we started working with Jackie, however, things were infinitely better. She was responsive, attentive, and went out of her way to accommodate everything I asked for. The reception went (almost) perfectly, and in the end I am happy with the job the Hyatt did.

We booked and paid for a $10,000+ wedding at the Hyatt in Fair Lakes that ended up never happening. After we signed the contract and put down a huge chunk of $$, all because we really liked the wedding coordinator and she was guaranteeing she'd be there to help us through the whole thing.... she quit. We didn't find out from anyone accept that after multiple emails to her going unanswered, I finally got an auto-replying saying she'd left the company. When I called to find out who my new coorindator was, they didn't have one yet. For months. Then they had one, and then she was gone in less than a few weeks. With the original lady leaving, suddenly several things she'd promised me were changed. The room rate was no longer as low as it had been before, costs were changed, and we were doing it all on our own. Upset at how horrible my experience was, I decided I wanted to get married somewhere else. Even though the Hyatt was the one who failed to keep up their end of the contract, they still made me pay the entire wedding price of $10,000+ which absolutely bankrupted us and forced us to push our wedding back over 2 years to be able to afford to do it somewhere else. The people there were so unaccommodating, unkind, unprofessional, and completely clueless. No one knew what was going on or what the other was doing. No one had answers for me. They stole our life savings and destroyed what could have been a really nice day. DON'T USE THEM. You will regret it.

Negatives: Our new last name was spelled wrong on the signs (which thankfully got changed before all of the guests arrived). The brunch was just a mess- do not do brunch at the hyatt. Brunch was not scheduled properly and the hotel sort of blamed it on me rather than just realizing their mistake and fixing it. The brunch was not worth the value. Another thing, was that after working with Gabrielle for nine months she wrote us a thank you note over email adressing us as Mr. and Mrs. (my maiden name). Not a big deal, but atleast get the new name right! The actual reception involved many guests complaining that the non-english speaking waiters took their drinks, food, and cake before guests finishing. If someone went up to dance, their drink was gone when they got back. Lastly, I wanted to extend the wedding reception but the wedding coordinator had left early and we could not communicate with helpers. Other vendors said that the wedding coordinator was not the easiest to work with on the actual night of reception. Positives: The wedding was set up exactly how I want and all of those negatives were after the fact. They really did a good job of being flexible with us and setting things up exactly how I had asked. I liked that the coordinator contacted all of my vendors to triple check that everything would fall into place. The actual wedding was fantastic, food tasted great, and guests were happy with venue. The negatives do not outweigh the positives, I would just require the coordinator to be there for the entire event.

I signed a contract for a group room rate for the wedding with the knowledge that I could increase the rooms reserved at that rate if needed with a cash guarantee. Somewhere in the process we needed more rooms but I was unable to reach my contact as she had left the company. I only found this out because her email auto-respond told me as much. Eventually I was told Corporate took over the wedding reservations and someone in house the day-of stuff such as gift bags. Maddie, our contact who helped with the bags was helpful and communicative once I was put in touch with her. The "special rate" included "complimentary" guest bag delivery. This turned out to be handing people bags when they checked in. Which was fine, except most couples only got one bag and some got none or had to go back and ask. The other issue with the 'special rate' of $85 was that most of our guests booked on travel websites for $20-$30 less than the wedding rate. Which then meant we didn't know how many rooms we needed or who was staying at the hotel and needed a gift bag. The major issue with not knowing how many guests we had at the hotel was then it became unclear if everyone was aboard the shuttles going to the event each day. Another annoyance was that a guest who booked late online was able to get a suite which turned out to be the Honeymoon Suite for $85 whereas we were "upgraded" to a Panorama for $85 after 15 rooms were booked as part of our wedding block. Not the end of the world but it just goes to show this is obviously a very corporate, structured place. My friend got the suite b/c it was the only room left. It would have been nice to not require a financial incentive to be given the Honeymoon suite but I think we needed to have 25 rooms booked that night in order to get it. Not enough room for my Yelp review pertaining to guest accommodation, see it here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/hyatt-fairfax-at-fair-lakes-fairfax#hrid:nauRMRi38L4tBlVYed8NiA

We can not speak more highly of the Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax. From their unbelievable flexibility in accommodating our needs (specific food requirements, large party, blended ceremony, etc.) to the impeccable attention to all of the little details, they played a huge part in making our day perfect. Ti, our event coordinator, worked with us from the day I emailed her about the venue to the big day. By the actual wedding day, I considered her more of a friend than a coordinator. I have to say, thanks to the staff at the Hyatt, my wedding day was completely stress-free.
