We loved our wedding at New Leaf Restaurant and ceremony at Linden Terrace, but I have very mixed feelings about both venues as a whole. It was a challenging venue and the cost is a bit too high for what they offer, as it is missing many of the amenities offered at other venues (bridal suite, private bathrooms, parking). Fort Tryon is a hidden gem tucked away, very few people have ever heard of it, and the old stone building is very picturesque. Many of our guests called it magical; we agree. We got great photos of us against the untamed, organic weedy nature of the park. We had unique photos rather than generic photos in a groomed garden typically seen at country club weddings. But there will be trash, weeds, and garbage cans in your photos. The ceremony on Linden Terrace is not private. I was told by New Leaf that I could buy a private permit. This is absolutely not the case. We hired a security team (for personal reasons, it’s really not necessary) and they were unable to keep people from going onto the terrace for our ceremony. It’s not usually too crowded on the terrace but we had a gorgeous late summer day and it was busy! There is also limited parking. You should definitely consider renting a shuttle. The food at NL is really great but not exceptional by NYC standards. The food service was very slow and guests were starting to get restless. We started to run out of time for dancing. I wish Cathy had recommended starting earlier. We had a full service wedding coordinator and I did not interact with Cathy too much. But when we did it was always positive and she was very responsive. The building is starting to show signs of wear and tear. I didn’t like having a generic white tent with white linen tables so we paid a bit extra to rent tables and chairs. We found it challenging to find a nice NYC hotel. New Leaf is a very special place and we loved our wedding, as did our guests. Just be aware of some of the short comings and decide if it is right for you.

My new wife and I were beyond thrilled to nab New Leaf for our wedding reception (with the ceremony just a few feet away on Linden Terrace), and were over the moon at how it all turned out! Maegan Hoepelman guided us through every moment and decision leading up to our big day, with joy and laser efficiency. The food was AMAZING, from wine to dessert, and our guests are STILL emailing us, gushing about the short rib! The whole team at New Leaf was amazing, and the service was exceptional. It was a perfect wedding, and we will remember New Leaf's part in it always. Thank you, team New Leaf!!!! You are the BEST!!!❤️

We recently had our wedding at New Leaf and I could not have been happier with the experience. Cathy Mosomillo, the event coordinator, was great to work with – we didn’t have the negative experiences that some reviewers have described below. We treated her with kindness and respect and received the same treatment in return. In fact, I felt that Cathy bent over backwards to make us happy. Her email style may be a little short, but I think that’s because she’s a busy lady. The staff at New Leaf is so considerate, the food unique and marvelous – guests loved that they could order off the menu at the reception almost as if they were at an actual restaurant (because they were). And, of course, how can you beat the setting of Fort Tryon Park? You honestly can’t, especially in the spring months. There are flowers, greenery – it is such a happy place. We did eventually hire an event coordinator who did a lot of the interfacing with Cathy, but that was largely because we just didn’t want to deal with details and potential vendor problems on the big day. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a unique, reasonably-priced New York wedding. You can’t go wrong here.

When my son and his fiancé began to plan their wedding they visited and met with Cathy Mosomillo. They narrowed down their choices to two different venues and then took my husband, the mother of the bride and myself to visit both. They told us about their hesitation about the New Leaf due to some of the bad press. After meeting with Cathy, we were thoroughly impressed yet still wary but thought the New Leaf met all the dreams they had for their event. The beauty of the park that surrounds the New Leaf, could not be matched and the New Leaf was chosen for their wedding on November 7th, 2015. Over the next eleven months we found Cathy to be nothing short on professionalism and right on target with every question and concern we all had. She provided wonderful recommendations, and great contacts that we used for additional things we wanted to add for the evening. She was responsive to our requests and our emails. On the day of the event, she was there to oversee that everything went right as it should. My son and his fiancé did all of the planning and per Cathy's advice, they made great choices and we thought that they did not skimp on anything. We thought the New Leaf was the most wonderful place to have their wedding. It was a dream come true for them and our guests who came from all over the country were blown away by the venue. . I know each and every wedding is the very most important day in the lives of the bride and groom and their families. We have one more unmarried child and if she chose to have her wedding at the New Leaf I would be more than pleased and could only hope that Cathy would be there to provide guidance and advise. My husband and I have done a lot of entertaining over the years and have attended numerous events as well. The New Leaf is lucky to have someone like Cathy.

Cathy and the whole team at the New Leaf are incredible. They are flexible, accommodating, have excellent vendor references and a real sensitivity for the personalities involved in planning a wedding. We had a relatively small wedding for their facility and they worked with us to alter the food, wine, and beverage menu so that we felt we received full value. They were always responsive and offered additional services ( picked up dessert from third party vendor, set up a caviar bar) we never anticipated. Everyone, including a group of very snooty foodies, raved about the food, the service, and the professionalism of the staff. If you are willing to travel north of the GW bridge and have your wedding in a beautiful park, under a full canopy of trees overlooking the Hudson and the Palisades to be paired with a gourmet dinner and professional courteous service, go to the New Leaf.

Wow what a venue for our wedding. It couldn't have gone any better - From ceremony, to cocktail hour, to the reception. Start to finish was amazing. We originally wanted our wedding to beoutside the city, but it didn't work out for various reasons. And when we stumbled upon New Leaf around Christmas time, we knew it was for the better. In the end, we got the best of both worlds - local wedding in an environment that felt like we were well outside the city. New Leaf underwent a change in ownership and management shortly after we signed our contract. We kept hearing mediocre reviews about the staff, the event planner, the food, the construction - and i have to say we experienced none of that. Cathy, the venue's event planner was great. She bent over backwards to accommodate us. The renovations they've done lately came out great and the reception area on the patio was beautiful. We are of the age where a lot of our friends have been getting married, and a lot of our friends have been attending weddings of late. Our guests went out of their way to tell us that our wedding was one of, if not the best wedding they've been to. You simply cannot beat this venue if you are looking for a city wedding that utilizes indoor and outdoor space.

We had our wedding at New Leaf Cafe a few weeks ago. The actual event was spectacular. Everything fell into place, the venue was gorgeous, the food delicious, and every single person at our wedding loved the entire experience. For the day of experience, I would give the venue a 5.0 out of 5.0. (Note: The staff working the event are the epitome of wonderful service. They handled every detail with care and professionalism.) The planning process, however, was very frustrating and characterized by "miscommunication" and curt - if any - responses from the Event Manager. We secured the venue right before big staff changes (Event Manager and Restaurant Manager), and often felt like our event had slipped through the cracks. With that said, everything came together during the last two weeks of planning and the night went off without a hitch. I would highly recommend the venue to anyone looking for a beautiful and affordable location in NYC. Just be prepared to deal with some delays and frustration during the planning process.

The New Leaf is a beautiful spot for a wedding reception and I would highly recommend it! The quality of the food followed by the rusty, wooden interiors make it perfect for a small intimate affair with close loved ones. I had a Friday court wedding and chose to have my reception of 20 people in the evening at The New Leaf. The requirements for my wedding were small and nothing more than dinner party! Simple: 1) Candles for the Tables (4 big Tables), Main Dining Room Lighting is a little Dull 2) Entrance vs. Exits - The Main Dining Room is in the middle of the bar and the outside portico with a door barricade 3) Food - plated courses and drinks - picked off a pre-set menu (food is amazing and totally worth it) 4) Music, Signs and Others - leverage music speakers, put up signs for directions and maybe do something creative with projectors and screening (more my sisters idea to do a little more). The hiccup in this whole experience was unfortunately, Cathy, the Director of Events. She struggled to build rapport, be responsive and be flexible. My family could not work with her on any secret surprises and on several occasions started convincing me to look else where..her engagement style was not up to par.. She was inflexible and seemed bound by regulations including not being able to use the main sound system, bring in a projector or even check the music to ensure everything was approved. I totally understood and encouraged my family not to push back either.. however, on the day of my wedding she was missing and simple things like enough lights, setting up the signs, guiding wedding guests and ensuring these things were taken care of were not handled professionally. I felt betrayed that my family had been burdened so much in organizing everything and even the little things lacked easy perfection. The true sale in this experience is the venue, amazing serving staff and food and for that I recommend New Leaf for making my night memorable!

I had my wedding reception at New Leaf June 6th 2015. I couldn't say enough good things about my experience with them. Cathy is a delight to work with. The day of, my florist basically dumped all of my floral arrangements and left. Cathy and the staff turned the entire place around for me (which was not part of their job) in 1 hour. I'm talking about a truck load of flowers here. I was amazed! The food was fresh and they accommodated any of my guests with food restrictions no extra charge. I hired Meghan as my day of planner. She was great as well. I recommend doing that ladies.. Really helped relieve me of a lot of stress. People still tell me it was one of the most beautiful weddings they have ever been to. The grounds surrounding the cafe are so beautiful. Especially in the spring and early summer. The only thing that I would like to warn potential brides is be mindful of the time. The park closes at 12am and it's not like you can just hail a cab in fort tryon park. Plan ahead and arrange transportation. I figured uber and calling a car service was enough.. It wasn't. Everyone was having such a great time. Midnight creep up so fast and I had a wave of 100 people all standing outside waiting for cars to come. Plan ahead and and avoid this. Expecially if you want to get married on a Saturday. Overall, we were very happy we went with this venue. Best of luck! Chelsea

New Leaf Restaurant was everything we wanted in a reception venue - great food, seamless service, beautiful setting, and unique for both out-of-towners and New Yorkers alike. Several of our guests commented that the food we served at our wedding was the best wedding food they've ever had. Steaks came out medium rare. The bass was perfectly cooked. The risotto was piping hot. Wine and water glasses never went empty. Everything was great. The whole night went really smoothly. The kitchen was very communicative with our DJ to coordinate when courses would be served and time everything out with the toasts, dance sets, everything. Unfortunately, planning the reception was not always a smooth experience. The restaurant experienced a changeover in staff members during the months we were planning our wedding, and the new event coordinator took some time to transition into her role. She was not always easy to get a hold of via phone or email, which made for some stressful lapses in communication. Her demeanor was not always the most professional and she dropped the ball a couple times, but in the end, the whole staff pulled everything together and made for a really great party. Hopefully once the event coordinator and the new GM are better acquainted with the restaurant, the planning process will be less stressful for future brides. I know the last event coordinator (Tiffany... who is mentioned in every review) was really fantastic, so it looks like there are some big shoes to fill :-) Overall this place is a real neighborhood gem. And affordable by NYC standards for a seated dinner.

We just had our wedding hosted by New Leaf Restaurant and Bar in Fort Tryon Park. The night was magical and a lot of what made it so special was New Leaf. The setting is absolutely beautiful. It truly cannot be beat. It accomplishes a true "al fresco" atmosphere. The tent is gorgeous as is the twinkle lighting they adorn the tent with. The restaurant has a rustic charm and elegance that is hard to come by. For those wishing to have a "different" kind of wedding in NYC, it is a great bet. We did have a few hiccups with communication with the event coordinator, and some miscommunication did occur, leading us to some stressful moments in planning, but when the actual night came everything was wonderful. Joel Tauzin, the hospitality manager was fantastic, very helpful, knowledgable and professional. Service was top notch. The price, will not exactly low, is fair and actually much lower than many other NYC venues. The food is tasty and elegant. Overall, the New Leaf is a wonderful option for those looking for an intimate, elegant and different NYC wedding.
