Old Oaks Estate
Located just east of Route 28 (Darnestown Road) and 109 (Beallsville Road) on 109 in Beallsville, Maryland, is the 17 acre property known as "Old Oaks." Its name is derived from the many stately oak trees on the property, some approaching 200 years old. The house was originally built in 1900. It began life as a one-story two-room dwelling built over a crawl space. The lot was larger then and was operated as a farm with livestock. It is believed that the farming operation continued until the early 70s. In the 1930's the house was expanded to two stories with four bedrooms, a lovely sitting room, dinning room, 2 baths, updated kitchen, front and back porches, breezeway and a carriage house.
The McCartins bought the property December 1997. They fell in love with the beautiful gounds and charming house. They added a conservatory to the house and they enhanced the grounds with a large gazebo on the right side of the lot and created a waterfall with dry stream bed, bridge and gardens. A cobblestone walkway leads from the patio outside the conservatory to the large fountain and gazebo, making it a breathtaking entrance for our beartiful brides and their parties. There are lovely vignettes located throughout the property, and an intriguing private forest to explore. The rustic carriage house includes bar, freezer, refrigerator and tables and chairs for guest enjoyment.
