Gorgeous location and very friendly and helpful staff. We were married there in September and the weather was perfect-not too hot not too cold! I would suggest having a friend or professional help to keep things on schedule they were a little lax in this area and we missed out on a few things. All in all they were great to work with.

Herrington on the Bay is an incredibly beautiful venue and location with an extraordinary staff working there. Stacey and Brittany helped to make my wedding day perfect from the beginning. Stacey helped us work with our budget, and Brittany was very detail oriented. She was very friendly and responsive to the emails I sent her in the months leading up to my wedding. The food at Herrington is very good, and the chef was always very friendly, feeding us everytime we had a meeting, even it was an unplanned visit! It was a wonderful location to bring together our families from DC, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and South Carolina. My guests did say one of the bartenders was not so friendly, very slow which and made watered down drink which did not help with eh open bar time limit. Additionally, I was slightly disappointed that while taking pictures the VIP service we were suppose to recive was not so VIP and my Wedding Party felt as though the two small plates they brought out was not enough to feed them and got tired of asking for more to be brought out! In all, these small shortcomings were totally outweighed by all of the wonderful things that Herrington had to offer. Their staff is truly top notch and I would highly recommend them to any bride. As a project manager myself, I am not always easy to please, but they went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you Stacey, Brittany, and all of the staff at Herrington. We truly appreciated all of your hard work!!

The Good: Beth is amazing! She was wonderful and very flexible. The grounds are absolutely beautiful (gorgeous views of the harbor and the Chesapeake Bay)! The Yacht Club was just recently renovated and was also stunning. Setting everything up was easy and the welcome reception for tastings and ideas was brilliant. That's where we met Krissy, the event designer, who did all of our flowers. They were fantastic! Chef Tom made sure our food was catered to my family and our vision for the wedding and it was so good. Adria was always around the day of and was able to ask us if we needed anything. The rehearsal dinner was held at the Pavilion, and we loved the close proximity to the rehearsal site. The dinner was excellent and plentiful! The Bad: I hate to say anything bad when we had such a wonderful day. The rehearsal dinner site was originally at Calypso Bay. When I called about a month before to inquire about when to drop off, the restaurant was not able to perform that plan because of renovations and neglected to check with us or let us know the restaurant would be closed, and this wasn't the only time things weren't checked to make sure they would be ok. They went out of their way and gave us huge discounts to let us be in the Pavilion on site. They made it up to us! My father would like me to add a quick word about Tammie, the accountant. She was unpleasant and made him feel unwelcome for using a payment plan that had a large fee every month. The accounting and the staff didn't communicate about payments, so it was very stressful for my father. As I didn't personally work with her, I can't comment, but I agree that more communication is needed. Overall: It was the most wonderful day! It was worth it to have our wedding there. I have to take some points off for the added stress leading up to the day, but in the end, I don't regret choosing HOTB. I loved every minute of our wedding. I recommend HOTB for any bride looking for a fantastic day.

Herrington on the Bay is a gorgeous setting to have your wedding or special event. The facilities are clean, the food is delicious, staff are super friendly and responsive. When it threatened to rain on our outdoor ceremony, they were flexible right up until the last minute as to whether it should be moved under the tent. Overall, we loved our wedding day and the setting is just so so so beautiful! My one complaint is that with the amount that Herrington charges for alcohol per person, I would have expected better wines and champagne (the "champagne" was a cheap super-sweet spumante). We ended up paying out the nose for an extra case of red wine and a case of champagne. Also, logistically, brides should be forewarned Herrington is extremely difficult to plan for your out of town guests. We had 200 people with 2/3 staying in Annapolis, about 25 minutes away. Try to find a bus company that knows the area and is actually reliable! Ha! There are limited rooms at the Inn at Herrington Harbor, so be forewarned that some of your close family will not be able to stay on site. I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but accommodations and transportation were our two biggest headaches.

I got married there just for the venue, the place is lovely, and the view is spectacular! As soon as I saw it, I knew this was were I wanted to get married. And it was a beautiful ceremony and reception. The only thing I did not like was the food, very average but you have to use their caterers. Also, I wanted a specific chicken served at the dinner and they served a totally different type of chicken dish. But all else was great. I only wish they would allow you to have a recpetion that lasts more than 4 hours!

When we first signed up with Herrington (HOTB), the Event Design Manager was Stacey Hill. She was terrific. Unfortunately, she moved away before our wedding. Our "day-of coordinator" was Lexy Harvey. Our first red flag w/ Lexy came in April when we needed to meet with her for planning. She told us that her only availability was Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday, from 9am-5pm. No availability on evenings or weekends. (In contrast to Stacey who would work with OUR schedule.) Since we live in Virginia, & have jobs, taking time off from work to have a short meeting w/ Lexy, to accommodate her schedule, was not an option. In contrast, Stacey was available via phone or email, 24/7. This new crew only works “their scheduled hours”. If you try to call or email them outside of those hours, you will get an out of office message that says they won’t be in touch until “their shift” starts again. If you think a wedding venue and their coordinators should be available more than “9-5”, then keep this in mind when considering HOTB. On the day of the wedding, we didn't see Lexy until AFTER our ceremony. Even then, we only saw her a couple of times during dinner, & that was it. Adria, another coordinator, was present at the ceremony site, but didn't have a clue what was going on. I asked her where I should stand before the ceremony and Adria said "I don't know." She later asked me if we had a flower girl, & I told her no. She asked who was supposed to put the rose petals down, and I said “You are.” She then replied, “oh”, & ran over to the ceremony site to lay them on the ground. Finally, the bus was supposed to pick up my bride at her Inn room. It went to the wrong location so she had to walk over to the ceremony site in her dress. In conclusion, we’d only recommend HOTB if you have your own Wedding Planner. If not, there are plenty of other venues on the bay that are just as beautiful, but with superior service, which will ultimately mean a better event for you & less stress.

Herrington was a beautiful place to get married. The servers were excellent. The only problems we had was the organization of the event. They didn't help with anything other than food and beverage. Most of the other set up (decorations, table numbers, and place cards) had to be done by us. For what we paid to rent I think that decorations and all set up should have been included. Also, they had no rooms for the bride and groom to get ready in. You had to rent a room at the nearby hotel. That was difficult because we lived an hour and a half away from the site.

We had a beautiful buffet set up on the deck overlooking the yachts. We had servers behind every station to greet the guests and serve the food into their plates. The food was delicious, I remember the chicken being just the right kind of juicy. For the hors d'ouvres we had cheese and spinach quiches and fiesta rolls and wanted the quiches to be butler-passed while the rolls displayed on a table. Instead someone told me (we missed the entire cocktail hour taking pics!) that both were buttler-passed, so they didn't do it to my exact specifications but I think it worked out well at the end. I can only imagine that it made it look even more elegant. It looks like everyone drooled over the quiches. There were some things that we wish our event coordinator and his team had handled better and they did mess up several of my specifications, including a very important one: they served beer and wine even though i asked for full bar! I don't know how they could've made such a mistake, during the planning we even specified that the staff would check with me whether I wanted to increase the tab or not.
