We worked with Emily for our reception, and she was fantastic! She genuinely cared about our BIG day, and we felt as if we've known her for years. We would highly recommend Meyer's Castle (and Emily), if you're planning a wedding. They made the process simple, and as stress free as you can ask for. All our questions and concerns were met head on, and answered/dealt with in a timely manner. The entire staff was accomodating and friendly. We can't thank them enough. Emily helped our vision come to life, and our reception was everything we had imagined.

I never thought I wanted to get married but then I met my prince and there was no way I would settle for anything else then my fairy tale wedding. Meyer's Castle was my first and only choice. Every step of the way they assisted and guided us in decisions that needed to be made. We had a very intimate wedding for our immediate family and friends of 70+ people. It was a beautiful Labor Day Sunday and the Grounds looked beautiful as well as the Castle. Our fathers both needed ADA accessibility and there was not a concern in our minds that their limitations would not be addressed. Everyone had a easy time moving around and getting from the ceremony on the Veranda to the East Canopy for the reception. Being from a European family, food and beverages, were a huge part of making sure my wedding was fabulous...the Castle succeeded in every way...MY MOM LOVED IT! I have been married for just over 6 months now and when I get together with friends and family, we are still talking about Meyer's Castle...the veranda, the canopy, the food, the drinks, the grounds and the special attention everyone gave us to make sure our day was what we wanted it to be! A special Thank You to Jeff...you made it all happen.

Amazing! Gorgeous! I can’t even put into words to describe the beauty of my wedding at Meyer’s Castle. It was truly something straight out of a fairy tale–I think even Cinderella would be jealous. On Sept 25th 2015 - I slowly walked through the castle holding in my excitement radiating with joy and smiles hand in hand with my fiancé.This was my rehearsal night.I am about to walk into a room where I have been planning for almost year. Eva lead, we followed. As she opened the doors to the ballroom, I was truly speechless. Tears began to fall. I just stood there looking around and around and around. It truly was the most amazing site I have ever seen. Every little detail we spoke about was in the exact place as I imagined. These rooms exceed my expectations. It was beyond and above & it was all thanks to Eva.When planning your wedding you hold this idea, this expectation of your big day–especially now that there is Pinterest. What you don’t expect is the stress & difficulties that come with planning. My husband and I have 12 living grandparents !Eva was our coordinator and I truly believe that if it wasn’t for her–I would have not gotten the fairy tale wedding I dreamed of. Eva was the first person I met when I showed interest & she was with me till the end. We became family through this intense experience. She was there with me through everything. From our bridesmaid dress not being available and having to reorder,my jeweler cracking my diamond a week before the wedding to helping me come up with centerpieces & giving me advice on this or that. She is extremely knowledgeable.I would give her an idea of what I had in mind and she would produce it. Anytime I had a question or was second guessing something–she helped me fix it. Anytime I had a dilemma–she helped my hand through it.She would even check in on me when she didn’t hear from me in a while to just make sure everything was going well. She cared!Eva was my rock especially since I have this huge crazy family.

We looked for a venue that was a one-stop-shop for almost every detail to make our planning lives easier and Meyer's Castle fit the bill. They offer a coordinating service and it's truly worth every penny. You're assigned a coordinator (our's was Eva and she was truly wonderful) and every question, idea or concern goes directly to the coordinator and they handle everything. Our ceremony was outside under the gazebo and we are still getting compliments on how breathtaking the venue is. Our reception was in the larger ballroom and I can't even begin to describe how beautiful it is in the evening when the sun goes down and candles light up the room. It's modern, maintained well and has amazing outdoor spaces for cocktails and pictures. Since it's also restaurant the food is much better than traditional wedding food. We opted for the chicken Provencal and received a lot of compliments. The baker is onsite and the cake they are amenable to any design idea. So that's two less vendors to have to worry about confirmations since you work through the coordinator for these deals and it's onsite. The also have a florist that you're required to use and he's very experienced and nice to work with. However, I would recommend to be very hands on and check-in on the details because I was underwhelmed by the table centerpieces and my bouquet. None of the guests noticed, but they just didn't turn out as we had discussed and the floral is somewhat pricey. I just needed to check-in more than I did, but I was a pretty hands off bride for everything, and many brides aren't so they probably won't have this experience. The venue is absolutely stunning and the staff is amazing to work with so that makes the cost worth it. It was an amazing day and looking back we couldn't have made a better decision than to get married at Meyer's Castle.

We just had our daughter's wedding at Meyer's Castle this past weekend. What a unique and beautiful location for a wedding. We had the ceremony outside in the gazebo. It was a 6:00 pm wedding and the sun was just starting to set. The white mini lights on the gazebo in the dusky setting was breathtaking. We chose not to pay for extra decorations for the gazebo, no flowers, no tulle, just the lights at that time of day was perfect. Save your $ for other areas. Brenda Chodor was the wedding planner. I cannot say enough about Brenda. She bent over backwards to make sure things went smoothly. We had planned this wedding for a year and over this past year, she would respond immediately to any questions I had via email or phone. As mother of the bride, I went to this wedding not worrying about any detail. Brenda had it under control. She was just fabulous. She also does wedding and events outside of Meyer's Castle. I would highly recommend her. (Celestial Events) We went with family style food. This is the first year they are offering that option. Beef tenderloin in a wine based sauce, baked mostacholi (sp?), baked chicken, HOMEMADE garlic mashed potatoes (to die for!), steamed veggies - squash, zucchini, etc. flavored perfectly, and a mixed green salad and homemade rolls. EVERYTHING was very very good. All the guests commented on the great food. The wedding cake was beautiful and the most delicious cake I've ever had at a wedding. Vanilla cake with creme brulee filling. YUM! We decided to go with the house DJ and just loved the variety of music he played. The wait staff were very eager to please. The security they provided - perfect. Cost was a bit more than you pay elsewhere in this area, but we felt well worth it. All the guests talked about how beautiful the venue was. It truly was memorable...a wedding your guests will not forget

My husband and I live in Chicago and were looking for a place to accommodate our budget. We received a lot of complements on the venue, and they said the cupcakes (since we had a cupcake tower instead of a cake) were incredible. Also, Eva Williams, our wedding coordinator was fantastic. There was a misunderstanding with the florist, but she made sure all throughout that we were satisfied with the service. At the wedding day, she made sure everything ran smoothly. We really appreciated her work.

Meyer's castle is a beautiful venue and our pictures came out amazing due to the grounds and castle back drops, the food quality was also very good. However...... if you choose to have your wedding at Meyer's you need to assure that the event planner is present and making rounds to have a smooth event. Our wedding reception started without beer for over an hour on a 90 degree day (keg only had 3 pours and was empty from the previous nites event) We were out taking pictures, so unfortunately could not facilitate the keg being replaced ourselves. Emily our event planner later stated "had I known I would have had it changed right away". The problem is she didn't know because she was in the back plating food?? The bartender had no way to communicate to her. In addition, the temperature in the banquet room was 85 degrees, the "new" A/C is either not functioning or they are unaware of how to use it. Emily stated it was hot "because a hot day with hot people in it" caused the room to be hot?? Our guests were fighting over the fans they brought in and the chocolate strawberries were melting (note other reviews that say the same thing). Eva stated they were calling the A/C company, but if you choose to have a summer event, I would attend an event on a hot day.to see if they have corrected this. Also, several guests at the front table were not served their entrée until very late, again Emily stated she was in the back plating so was unaware she normally relies on her lead (she needs to be in front with guest, some of these were simple issues that could have been corrected quickly). The dessert table was set late, and no artistic display (ask that they use risers, vs just flat platters) we had to do our first dance prior to cutting our cake as the sweet table was not set at the end of the meal as it should have been. For service recovery they did offer $100 for the beer outage, we declined, I'd prefer that others are just aware of the potential issues.

The service at Meyers castle was absolutely horrible. They did not start serving food until after 8 when we were supposed go start around 7. There were only a few servers. Seconds were not given to anyone even when guests asked. Some tables did not even get all the food choices. There is a lot of extra hidden costs in this venue and the place is definitely not worth the amount of money that they charge. Thankfully, my wedding turned out beautiful and was exactly how I envisioned it, but it could of been just as beautiful somewhere else without all the problems and stresses we had that evening.

Do not book you wedding here!!!! This was my worst decision!! When I began looking for my venue, I had many questions. At the time, they had a manager Emily, who is absolute perfection. She had a baby, and was on maternity leave for my wedding, and everything fell apart!! The owners are unpleasant, rude, and frankly made my experience miserable. On the night of our rehearsal, we were told that we would only have 2 hours to set up and that if we ate any food at the venue, they would pull the coordinator for the next day. (Mind you, setting up and eating had all been arranged previously with Emily, who gave me the idea in the first place.) unfortunately the owner is lazy and wanted to leave ASAP. I was also told I would not be allowed to enter through the double door leading down a small staircase for my ceremony entrance, and would have to enter through the bar hallway, which was wet from snow, and also where all of our guests hung out before and after the ceremony. Can you say kill the mood?! On top of that, they refused to heat the building during the rehearsal, so all of my bridesmaids, flower girls, our mothers, and everyone else in attendance was forced to freeze in a 20 degree room. The icing on top of this horrible experience was our reception, when the kitchen claimed to not have notes that the bride was GLUTEN FREE! Which, by the way was impossible that they didn’t know, considering our entire tasting a couple months prior was 100% gluten free. They tried to fix their mistake by bringing me extra vegetables? Ummmmmm NO! I paid $$$ for the food and their mistake needed to be fixed, right? They served me a dry piece of chicken breast 45 minutes after all of my guests had been served. If i could demand all of my money back I would! The owner also had the audacity to show the venue for a booking appointment during our ceremony. They interrupted me very loudly while I sat in the back corner of the restaurant trying to finish writing vows. RUDE!!!
Meyer's Castle responded with the following comments:
Dear Carissa, It is very sad to see a review in this mannerism. Meyer's Castle has spoke to the floor captain after your event and was told everything was fine as per you. Regarding a few statements you did not hire a Meyer's Castle Coordinator so it is a bit confusing how you feel that this service would be taken away from you. You refused to pay for this service. We were told you had your own people to help. Meyer's Castle did allow an office staff member to help you all day. The day of your rehearsal we did have a staff member on site and the heat was turned on. The rehearsal was scheduled at 4:00 pm unfortunately you were running 1.5 hours late. We also allowed you to stay past 9:00 pm for your set up with Meyer's Castle Staff as well. Prior to your event we did discuss different entrances in the event of inclement weather. This was basically a contingency plan. The day of your event all was well and you entered through the double doors. Rechecking our menu to our chef we have a copy of all special meals that were requested by you personally. I have personally checked our appointment book Meyer's Castle did not have an appointment the day of your wedding. It is against our policy to have any sales representative interrupt our events during the contractual booked time. The venue site tour was actually held the day of your rehearsal. There was absolutely no interruption.

This was the worst experience of my life for what should have been the happiest. My timeline was changed a month before my wedding without an option or discussion. Their florist changed his quote 2 months before my wedding. The coordinator and the owner gave me excuse after excuse and rarely did I receive an apology! I asked that a Manager call me months before my wedding and only a week before my wedding did the owner call. The air was broke and a maintenance man was witnessed PEEING ON IT with his PACKAGE OUT! Glass was broke and not cleaned for over a half hour. Many of my guests did not receive what they ordered. I have over two pages worth of issues, this place wants to make money but does not care about the outcome, don't use this venue.

My daughter had her wedding here please don't be fool by all the beauty this castle has, that's all it has ,the day of the wedding the lights went off ,they didn't have any generators for back up ,the food was served cold and their excuse was they where under staff why is that our problem you are paying a lot of money ,my daughter wedding coordinator started crying over all the things that went wrong instead of her comforting us we where comforting her ,she told us her daughter was also getting married but she was not having the wedding here, now I know why, one of the waitresses was making out in the coat room ,the waiters thought that they were there as guest dancing instead of doing their job , Please whomever reads this review think twice my daughter didn't and in the end she pay by having the best day of her life ruin by unprofecional people ,it's expensive and not worth it

Meyers castle is an overpriced wedding rip off venue. Do not plan your wedding here. Food was poor quality, owners are of South American decent and seem to treat us Americans with disrespect and rudeness. Venue is not very clean as I personally saw black ants crawling on floor. Service was slow as tables were not served in timely manner. Apparently owners are too cheap to hire enough staff, guess it would cut into their profits. If you are looking for a wedding venue, do yourself a favor and keep looking.
