Ricardo & Jesse

We’ve been together 21 years this Oct. 2.

Jesse is Mexican & American Indian born in Mexico, but raised here in California, I am Puerto Rican born in Long Island, New York. I moved out west 25 years ago (when I was a kid).

We have four adopted sons; two adults now living on their own and two teenagers one in high school and one in Jr high. We have been blessed to share our lives with such great kids.

We love camping with the boys, going to the beach & soccer games.

We met on October 2, 1987 the morning of the Whittier earthquake. We lived in the same apartment building that got a lot of damage and had a lot of older residents. Both Jesse and I were helping the older resident get out of their apartments out to safety, about an hour later after several after shocks, we were all outside (too shaken to go back in our apartments) and we were introduced and started talking. We dated everyday for about a week, then both our apartments needed work to repair the damage from the earthquake so we would have to move out of our apartments while they did the work. I suggested that we move into the same apartment (and play house) for a few weeks while they fixed our apartments, (Jesse now claims that was my trap) well we never went back to our respective apartments and have been together ever since.

We had our union ceremony 15 years ago, with family and friends, a beautiful wedding, with a great reception and honeymoon. So this time around (to make it legal) it will be pretty simple (or we are trying to keep it pretty simple).

We had already planed a week at a cabin in Idyllwild with the boys, so we figured we would just have the ceremony there and invite friends and family up. So our ceremony will be out in a field somewhere up in the hills of Idyllwild.

Our first ceremony was everything we dream, except we did not have the boys, so this time will make it even more special.
