Stephanie & Brandi
How we met:
Brandi was working as a health care assistant for my cousin who was paralyzed after a car accident. At the time we met, she thought I was a 12 year old and didn’t give me a second look; I thought she was the cutest person I had ever laid my eyes on. It didn’t take her long to see that I was in fact of age and I found myself staying at my Grandma’s just so that I could set up with her all night and talk. It was no time at all that we realized that even though we came from two completely different paths of life, we had a ton in common.
Brandi asked me if we could go to the park that day and feed the ducks. We both enjoy being outdoors, however; I thought it was strange that she wanted to go that day to feed the ducks. She was acting strange at first and was distant, like she was scared to come around me. I couldn’t figure out what in the world was wrong with her, so I kept quite and was trying to figure her out. Once we were at the park and walking around, I feel like I ruined the moment, but a bird flew over my head and took care of business, one foot away from my head. I look back to face Brandi, as I am saying, “Babe, a bird seriously almost just $#!| on my head!!” I seen her kneeling on the ground and say, “What in the world are you doing?” That is when I noticed that she was shaking like crazy. I say, “Babe? Are you okay? What is wrong?” She says, “I love you, Will you marry me?” I say, “Yes!” and took her hand as she was standing up, she had tears in her eyes and she said, “Dang it, I had a big, long speech planned out and I lost it. I completely forgot what all I was going to say.” Although some may think it was a wreck of a proposal, I think it was perfectly imperfect. Anyone that knows us as individuals and as a couple, knows that we are always a jumbled mess of random goofiness.
We have been together, all in all, for almost 6 years. Although it has been a rough road, we finally have both reached the same page in our relationship and have decided that we do not want to be apart ever again. We have started to plan a wedding and couldn’t be more excited.
Just knowing that we have each other, we know that we can pull through anything life throws at us. It has been tough, but it has definitely been worth it.
