Aileen & Melonie
Melonie, or Duo as she prefers, and I could only be described as “soul mates”. Perhaps a little on the cliche side, but there is no other way I find I can explain how we came to be us. She lived in Utah, I came from California, and we met in Arizona. She was coming to end of a very abusive relationship with another girl, T, and I had never even dated before. We met and, just like that, clicked.
We love all the same things. Anime, Asia, reading, writing, dolling, singing, dancing, Disney…she’s taught me to accept food for what it is. It’s more than a nourishing sustenance, it’s a joy when done right. I used to hate vegetables, but I’ll gladly eat my broccoli with her around. She’s a diabetic, so we do try to be careful about what we eat, but she’s not letting her diabetes stand in her way and I am so proud of her for that.
I plan on becoming an author when I’m done with my schooling. She’s going after her own dream; interior design. She’s taking classes at the Sullivan University here in Louisville. She’s even considering specializing in lighting.
We live with my parents for now. Not the most desirable of circumstances, but we just aren’t set financially to be on our own. We’re planning for an apartment in the near future, though.
