Emily & Ali
AND SO WE MEET: Has anyone ever heard of “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequilla”? I watched the show religiously and became infatuated with one of the girls Dani Campbell.
After the show had aired, Dani Campbell happened to be appearing at a bar in YBOR called G-Bar on Friday night. I convinced my best friend Amanda to go with me to this “G-Bar” to go see Dani!
Amanda and I arrived a few HOURS early. At about midnight the bar was packed. Amanda and I were sitting in the lounge area people watching (Dani Campbell had yet to show up for her appearance). As I was sitting on a leopard shoe chair I saw across the bar a very hot chick, who somehow looked familiar.
Amanda and I stared creepily for a while trying to figure out where we knew this girl from. Finally we decided to get up and go near her. Finally after about an hour of my telling Amanda that I wanted to go talk to this girl we began walking around the bar to find her.
Out of nowhere a group of girls brushes past me, and I see HER! I tap one of the girls she is with and ask “is your friend in the maroon shirt with anyone?” She said “No, come talk to her.” I of course got all shy and said “No, that’s ok.” And then she proceeded to turn around grab her HOT friend and pulled her over to me.
I am sure by now that I am ridiculous shade of red. The girl that I had been waiting all night to talk to was finally standing right in front of me. She introduced herself as Ali, and I introduced myself. Then, we stared at each other….I was unable to speak.
Finally, she started asking me a few questions about where I went to school, where I worked, etc. I basically gave one word answers because I was so nervous and she ended up talking to Amanda instead. (Damn, I blew it…so stupid) Amanda and I finally realized where we knew Ali from. She had been on a question panel in one of my Women’s Studies classes at school. **BTW, she hated when people mentioned this, because apparently a lot of people knew her from this panel and always mentioned it to her when they saw here. Glad I could be one of those people. HA!**
Anyway. Because of my inability to speak Ali eventually went on her way. As the night went on, all I could think about was her. I was determined to find her again and ask her for her number. Amanda and I roamed the bar over and over again for about 2 hours.
With no sign of Ali, Amanda and I left the bar. However, as soon as we got home I flopped open my computer and went searching on Myspace and Facebook for this chick Ali!! After about 10 minutes of searching Amanda found her. So, at 2 in the morning I promptly wrote Ali a message on Myspace telling her everything about myself and that I really wanted to get to know her. (At the time, this seemed like a good idea. Now that I look back, it was very creepy)
After about 3 days of writing messages back and fourth Ali finally asked me to hang out. I went over to her house the Monday after we had met and we have been inseparable ever since. AND THEN WE GOT ENGAGED: It was a Friday and Ali had asked me if I wanted to pick up some dinner and go have a picnic on the. I said of course and after work that day I stopped at Outback, got our favorite Coconut Shrimp and Baked Potatoes and went down to our spot on the beach to meet Ali.
We had dinner and watched the sunset as we relaxed on our blanket listening to the ocean. After dinner Ali said that there was a historic hotel down the road that had an outside sitting area which she had always wanted to go to and have a drink.
We pulled up to the Vinoy in downtown St. Pete and went up to the bar. We ordered a drink and sat out on the veranda to talk. After Ali had finished her drink, she said she had to use the restroom. After about 10 min, I started to get worried. Just as I was about to text her to see if she was ok, our waitress came up and said “Your presence in requested in the Pent House Suite.”
All I am thinking at this time is “Damn my babe is awesome. The Pent House Suite, Hell yeah!!” So, I get up to my floor and as the elevator opens there is only one door in the hallway, MINE! I look down and see a note on the floor, it reads “Come closer, just don’t walk away!” I still have no clue what is going on.
As I open the door all of the lights are out and there is a trail of rose petals, candles, and notes lining the floor. I burst into tears as I realize what is happening. My entire body is shaking and I am crying uncontrollably. In the background, I hear our song playing “And no need to wonder what’s been on my mind, it’s you…it’s you…it’s you!”
I start making my way through the suite following the trail of roses and candles picking up each sweet note along the way. Finally, I reached the bedroom. I look to my right, and I see a set of stairs leading to a door. I reach for the handle and see another note that says “So I guess what I am trying to say is…”
I open the door to the most romantic site I have ever seen. On the deck is dozens and dozens of rose petals, candles, and more sweet notes from my love. In the corner, on one knee with a box open in her hand was Ali. She asked “Will you marry me?” And there it was my dream ring!! It was EXACTLY the one I had wanted. I began crying once again and gave her the biggest hug ever and showered her with kisses. After about 2 minutes I realized that I hadn’t answered her. I said “YES!”
The following day Ali and I went down to the pool, and then go to a couples massage in the evening. We got off the elevator and Ali said, “Hey, do you want to grab a drink first from the bar?” I said “Yea, sure”.
Out of no where a giant table screams “Congratulations! And throws rose petals at me!” Ali had arranged for all of our friends to come have brunch with us to celebrate our engagement. It was so wonderful! We all ate and hung out by the pool. Later that day Ali and I went to our amazingly relaxing couples massage. It was the most romantic, best engagement I could have ever dreamed of.
