they just celebrated their 11th Anniversary. They decided that they need to take this step as tehy love each other and want to show to all of their family and friends their commitment to each other. They have three “children”. Two dogs named Emily and Uke and a cat named Patches.
Originally from the Pojoaque valley outside Santa Fe, New Mexico, Ben Gomez graduated from Pojoaque High School in 1987. Shortly after high school, Ben enlisted in the United States Navy as a Legalman. After a ten and a half year naval career, Ben chose to get out of the Navy due to the looming “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law that could affect his naval career if he chose to serve as an openly gay man.
Ben received his California paralegal certification at the University of San Diego.
Ben has been involved with several community organizations, including LGBT Voices ’96, AIDS Project San Diego, and Special Delivery, San Diego Latin Pride and San Diego LGBT Pride.
Currently, Ben is the Logistics Director of the Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol. His duties include coordinating the recruiting, interviewing, training, and scheduling of patrol volunteers. He coordinates monthly meetings and requests of patrol staff at local events.
Ben is a board member of the San Diego County LGBT Community Centerand a two-time recipient of the Nicky Award for Outstanding Community Volunteer.
Originally from the Fontana, California Jeffrey Redondo graduated from Fontana High School in 1992. After high school Jeff enrolled at Chaffey Community college receiving his Associates of Arts degree in General Education.
Continuing his education at San Diego State University he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. Currently he is a student at the University of California San Diego Extension Studies program receiving his Certificate in Fundraising and Development.
He worked as a supervisor at College Loan Corporation, a lead teller for Wells Fargo and maintained various positions for San Diego LGBT Pride over the last 10 years, including Parade Manager. In that capacity, he became involved with soliciting high-profile sponsorships, recruited government officials and judges to the annual parade, and coordinated with City of San Diego police, fire, and special events departments to confirm logistical issues.
Currently as the Production Assistant of San Diego LGBT Pride, he will support the organization’s executive director in planning and enhancing teamwork among production staff and volunteers.
He is a board member of the Gay Men’s Chorus of San Diego, part of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and in 2006, was named volunteer of the year by Pride.
