Melissa & Jess
We met in American Sign Language in 2010 at our college. The moment I saw Jess I knew I had to be friends with her. Over the semester we became inseparable. We were dating other girls at the time and they were not very happy about our friendship. There was an attraction there and tons of flirting. We were falling in love with each other and both didn’t know how to get out of our relationships. On May 18th 2010, I kissed her for the first time. We knew it was wrong because we needed to end it with out other girlfriends who we were not happy with. This went on for a week until we were found out. We stopped talking so we could figure ourselves and our relationships out.
After 10 long months, we ran in to each other at a club. We were both very much single and our feelings were still there for each other. After being together for a year (finally) Jess proposed on May 17th at our graduation. Apparently my ring was not ready and so she substituted it with my grandmother’s ring. She want to propose in front of all of our friends and family. So after we received our diplomas, we went to go take our pictures and that is where she got down on one knee and our friends and family opened up my banner that said “Melissa, Will You Marry Me?” Of course I accepted, but I was very much in shock because news crews were all over capturing it. I had been in love with this beautiful person for 2 years. I would be an idiot not to accept. The following day, May 18th (exactly 2 years after our first kiss), she serenaded me at karaoke and proposed again. This time with my actual ring. I cried of course. Then on June 3rd, I proposed to Jess with her ring, right after New Jersey Pride.
I am truly the luckiest girl in the world.
