Kaali & LaTasha

When Kaali and I went on our first date, it wasn’t supposed to be a date at all. In fact, several others were joining us for a ladies night out..dinner and a movie. I was the new comer to the group, so when everyone cancelled out besides Kaali, we decided to still meet up. Our night which started at 7PM did not end until 5AM the following morning. Kaali and I laughed together, cried together and shared intimate and private things with one another. On my way home, my mind was spinning and my heart racing. I had never been with a woman before, so the only thing I could ask myself is “what does all this mean”?

After that night, Kaali and I were inseparable. We shared every available moment with one another, strictly managing our “friendship” and keeping things safe. Kaali took things very slowly with me and after several years of spending holidays and sending 5-10 ecards per day to each other, we finally began to admit that we had fallen madly in love.

Kaali proposed to me on Christmas night after we had been together for three and a half years. Besides birthing my children, that was the happiest day of my life. Through tears of joy I said “YES”! After a year and a half of planning, Kaali and I legally committed on June 14, 2008 in front of 120 of our closest friends and family.

In my vows to Kaali, I stated “You’ve been my lover and my friend all in one breath, but mostly you’ve taken my breath away. You look into my eyes and see my soul. You build me up when others have torn my down. Today as as you stand here, you make my dreams come true. And in Kaali’s vows to me, she stated “Although I cannot promise you a life of sunshine;

or a easy pathway That leads away from change or growing old,

I can promise all my heart’s devotion;A smile to chase away your tears of sorrow;A love that’s ever true and ever growing;

And a hand to hold in yours through each tomorrow”. These are just a small glimpse of the love and sentiment that Kaali and I share.

Our favorite quote is “Love is friendship set to music” because what started off as a frienship has evolved into something so beautiful that Kaali is my love song and I am hers.
