Jessica & Lauren
It was a miracle that we even met. Neither of us had anything in common that would have caused our paths to cross, though we had been living 20 minutes apart for 5 years before we met.
She was a softball player and I was in the marching band. Two completely different realms. Our previous relationships had ended at the same time and we were both online at the same time looking for someone. We wrote back and forth a few times and I was unsure if I were really interested.
We arranged to meet, though she was more stubborn than I. I thought, what do you have to lose? If we didn’t like each other, we would never have to see each other again.
I still can remember the first time we met. She had been mudding with a friend and was sweaty and tired. Somehow I convinced her that she needed to come over. She pulled up in her black mustang.
We hit it off immediately and talked for hours. Eventually went to dinner at a local pizza place, and I bought her food. Apparently this is what made me stick in her brain. No girl had ever bought her food before, it was always the other way around.
We started dating then, and spent nearly every day together that summer, until I went to my cousins wedding in NC in late June. Then something happened that we still joke about to this day. I had a few drinks from the open beer and wine bar, and went up to my hotel room early just to talk to her. My family had been remarking n how I was the next in line to get married. I told her this, and then told her that we were going to get married. That i could feel it in my soul.
Two and a half years later, and it is true.
My instincts were correct. She proposed last year on September 15th. Unfortunately for us, three days later her mother, our best friend, was killed in a car accident. We never got the chance to tell her about our relationship. We have been postponing the planning because we needed time to heal and get our lives back in order.
It has been a year and three months since her death, and we have finally gotten ourselves ready to set the date and start planning!
