Nick & Dustin
Dustin and I have been together for three years and are very excited about our upcoming wedding celebration. We have been blessed with wonderfully supportive friends and family and we can’t wait to share our special day with them. Our union will be as much of a celebration of their love as it is about ours.
We first met accidentally… and online (on myspace of all places!). Neither of us were looking for a relationship at the time, but I’ve always found that the most incredible things in life finally appear when you stop searching for them. After chatting for a few weeks and realizing how much we had in common we decided to “take the plunge” and meet in person… in a well lit public setting. We agreed that we were meeting strictly as friends, but we immediately felt a spark between us. I suppose one could call it more than a spark considering that I moved in on the second date. Well… I didn’t exactly move in… I just never left, but for all intents and purposes two days after meeting Dustin I began living with him. We affectionately began referring to my apartment as “storage.” Storage didn’t have air conditioning but I swear that had nothing to do with our living arrangements. Things became more official once my lease expired and my belongings joined me over in Dustin’s apartment too.
S Our engagement is a GREAT story. After a fantastic Christmas Eve cocktail party at our apartment, Dustin and I started a beautiful new holiday tradition and we exchanged stockings by candle light. Being that it was our first Christmas together we both wanted to establish some special things to make the holidays our own. We each surprised the other with some new Christmas ornaments to fill our tree. (Dustin will be getting a new snowman ornament each year, and I a Santa.) Being more ambitious Dustin gave me numerous ornaments that evening. After unwrapping four Santas I discovered a small gift wrapped box at the toe of my socking. I assumed it would be another ornament, but I had been hassling annoyed Dustin for months about wanting a ring, without even thinking I teased him. Like a smartass I asked, “Is this a ring?” Dustin went white because in his excitement he told EVERYONE that he was going to propose. He assumed that someone must have spilled the beans.
I unwrapped my gift to find a box with the logo of the jeweler we had visited to dream about rings. I was so shocked and in such denial that I was actually getting proposed to that I immediately thought that Dustin must be playing a trick on me, and I started to hit him and call him an asshole! Meanwhile Dustin was silently freaking out because I was RUINING his moment! Even when Dustin got on one knee I wasn’t “buying it” it wasn’t until I opened the box and saw the ring that I picked out months earlier that it sunk in. I went from cussing to crying in an instant, and Dustin finally got the romantic reaction he deserved, Of course I said yes. Dustin bought a matching ring for himself and after slipping mine onto my finger I got to ask him to marry me back. It was the most surprised that I’ve ever been, and truly one of the most perfect days of my life.
