Shelly & Jennifer
Jen and Shelly met while both working for City Diner. Jen was working as the General Manager at the “new” location at the Fox Theatre, while Shelly had spent many years off and on working at the original South City Diner location. There were several occasions and some common friends which brought them into acquaintance with each other, but they never really had an opportunity to get to know each other. Then as it happens, fate changed. At the 2011 Diner employee Christmas party both Jen and Shely arrived as singles and met each other for the first time with their eyes open to the possibility. Shelly invited Jen to join her at her home for family Christmas dinner and Jen accepted the invitation. Jen arrived on Christmas day with a bag of ice to bravely attend the Christmas dinner of a family she barely knew at all, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door. One of Shelly’s daughters ushered Jen into the house, grabbed an extra chair, and placed Jen squarely at the head of the table next to Shelly. We would have never guessed it at that moment, but Jen has been squarely by Shelly’s side ever since. Having found the love that they never knew existed, they have never spent a night apart.
On February 13, 2012 Jen proposed to Shelly and a plan to get married on their first anniversary, Christmas day 2012 began to emerge. However, an opportunity to get away for a few days presented itself and on July 3, 2012 Jen and Shelly eloped to Davenport, IA and were legally married. Now all that’s left is the need to have a celebration with our family and friends here in St. Louis.
