Blam! Did you feel that? It’s the e-confetti we’re tossing to celebrate a huge honor for the GayWeddings.com team. We’re super-happy to announce our parent company, WeddingWire, Inc., doubled down on its commitment to supporting the LGBT community by earning a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s annual survey of workplace inclusivity. The foundation assesses hundreds of businesses each year to populate its Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which lists the best places to work for LGBT equality. This is the first time WeddingWire was reviewed for the distinction, and it hit all marks on the first try.

As part of the WeddingWire family, we’re hugely honored. It means we’re a part of a company that puts its proverbial money where its proverbial mouth is with substantive and equality-minded benefits for LGBT-identified employees. It means our team, everyone from our company’s CEO on down, is invested in creating a world where sexual orientation and gender expression don’t keep people from accessing good jobs and quality healthcare.

More precisely, it means our company is committed to a few key principles (though this list is a short snapshot of what the CEI judges):

  • We don’t support philanthropic causes that actively discriminate against LGBT people.

  • We support trans people, and our health insurance coverage reflects the unique coverage some require.

  • We don’t discriminate between married folks of any kind and folks who identify as domestic partners.

“Our company has always been committed to being inclusive of the LGBT community,” Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for our workplace equality, and will continue to do what’s right: focusing on providing the highest-quality experience to everyone we serve both inside and outside of our offices.”

If it isn’t already evident, we’re very proud of WeddingWire for earning this huge honor. We’re excited to keep doing our part to be the change we’d like to see by standing for equity in the workplace and supporting justice for all.
